Hi and welcome to the forum

What does the door LED do when unable to start?

It could be a faulty relay 109 but doesn't give a fault code.

Dont know what d40 code is

Are you using Vagcom to scan your car?

Hi Z

The Actual 109 relay is the Power Supply Relay to the Engine. I Googled the Part Number as its an actual VW part and this was the result. After ordering the part from VW direct as way far cheaper than Frauds, they also confirmed the type of relay.

Im now a little confused that the Garage said its the Camshaft Sensor which is causing the problem ???????????? Would this single sensor cause the total power / electrical failure and make it that it wont start the engine then after a little battle start. If a sensor goes either faulty or intermittent then the Engine Management Light or ECU should kick into Limp Home Mode (NO)?????

Im not a Tech Head, as more a DIYer using common sense as other cars ive never had or heard of this problem before.

I've also been told that its possible that the Fuel Filter maybe causing the problem and needs changing

Did u have this checked out at Ford or VW?

Regards

109 is the power relay for injectors, when it's faulty will cause the LED on drivers door to flash fast while trying to start.

G 40 is related to faulty cam sensor

Morning Chris,

Any Idea Where this Cam Sensor can be located please?

Hi Bryan

The Hall sensor G 40 is located in the cylinder head behind the timing belt, if you look behind the oil filter you will see two multi plugs one grey and one black.

One goes to the cam sensor the other goes to the crank sensor which is just to the right of the oil filter in the block.

Hope that helps

regards Chris

As already said relay 109 is the power supply relay for engine ecu/injectors

Fuel pump relay is marked 53 in position 3

You can normally hear the pump for a second when you first switch ignition on, it only runs for a moment to pressurise the system and sounds like a squelch noise from under the car, if you cant hear anything then it's not working, it may even be a faulty pump or the connections to it.

The pump is accessed through a plate in the floor under carpet middle row of seats area.
